Materials

Credits available are gained when materials used have a low environmental impact over the course of their life time. There are 3 sections:

  1. Mat 1 – Environmental impact of materials
  2. Mat 2 – Responsible sourcing of materials – Basic Building Elements
  3. Mat 3 – Responsible sourcing of materials – Finishing Elements

Mat 1 – Environmental impact of materials

The five main envelope elements of a property, ground / upper floors, external / internal walls and windows must achieve an A+ to D rating based on the 2008 Green Guide booklet. Three of the five elements must achieve a rating to ensure the minimum mandatory requirements are made. If the property has party walls or separating floor these are also included.

Mat 2 – Responsible sourcing of materials – Basic building elements

Responsible sourcing of materials for all the basic building elements:

  1. Frame
  2. Ground floor
  3. Upper floor
  4. Roof
  5. External Wall
  6. Internal Wall
  7. Foundation / Substructure
  8. Staircase
  9. 100% of any timber in these elements will be legally sourced

Mat 3 – Responsible sourcing of materials – Finishing elements

Responsible sourcing of materials for all the finishing elements:

  1. Staircase
  2. Windows
  3. External & Internal doors
  4. Skirting
  5. Panelling
  6. Furniture
  7. Fascias
  8. Any other significant use
  9. 100% of any timber in these elements will be legally sourced
